Wise
Words
Here you find some of the Wisest Words on the WWW, for
carvers, painters, artists.....anyone for that matter! From quotes to clips, you will see
and hear from the best!
Here is the
newest addition of Wise
Words from
Champion Carver Tom Matus... |
"Just because it was a difficult
paint job and took hours to complete
does not mean it is going to win!!! That is like putting ornaments on an Oak Tree
to make it look like a Christmas Tree.
Make sure the carving looks like the bird before you waste your time with all
that paint!! Get the anatomy right first!!
A bird with correct anatomy and a simple paint job will win day in and day out
over a poorly carved bird with an extensive paint job!
PAINT CANNOT HIDE EVERYTHING!!"
Tom Matis
Here are some very good WISE
WORDS from fellow carver Vic Hamburg that we
are sure you all will be nodding your heads at...
"When it is late and you are carving,
burning or painting and you think
to yourself....
'Just One More Minute and then I will leave it alone for the night...'
Leave it alone immediately!! That last cut or stroke is the one most likely to
either
draw blood or create more work to fix the next day, leaving you frustrated and angry.
Quit while you are ahead, it will
still be there tomorrow!!!
Vic Hamburg
We weren't sure whether it was Wise Words or Hot Tips
from 3 time World Champion Carver Tom Christie....
but regardless.. here is a winner from him to you!!!
"If you have to convince yourself that the eyes you just
installed on your
carving are set right.....
THEY AREN'T!!!
Tom Christie
Here's some Wise Words from the LoonLady in Minnesota:
"Whatever you do, make sure it's "evenly uneven"!
Laurie J. Lundell Gmyrek
Wise Words from a
well-known Cajun Carver:
Here's two of his theories....
"When you buy, buy the best mattress
you can afford and the best shoes you can afford, because when you aren't lying in bed
you're standing on your feet!".
"When you drop one brush on the
floor, you should throw all of your brushes on the floor. This is because, if you have the
duck in one hand, and bend over to pick up the one brush, you ding the duck on the table.
If you throw down all the brushes, you have to put the duck down and bend over to pick up
all the brushes with both hands.....!"
